Behavioral Health Preferred Provider Network

The Preferred Provider Network (PPN) brings together behavioral health professionals who understand epilepsy, nonepileptic seizures, and the mental and emotional challenges that can come with them. We are growing our national network of behavioral health providers trained in this specialized care.

For providers who are interested in helping people with epilepsy and nonepileptic seizures, we have multiple training sessions to build your knowledge. By joining the PPN, you receive training, agree to receive referrals from the Epilepsy Foundation, and communicate with us regularly about your services.

The goal of the PPN is to ensure that all individuals  with epilepsy and seizure disorders have access to quality behavioral healthcare. Once part of the Preferred Provider Network, your information will be shared with these individuals who are seeking mental healthcare.

Epilepsy can have a number of comorbidities that often go unrecognized and untreated, even in specialty clinics. These comorbidities affect overall health outcomes and can be associated with poorer quality of life. Many anti-seizure medications (ASMs) can also have negative effects on mood and behavior.

The Preferred Provider Network will help people find the treatment they need with providers who understand their epilepsy-related condition. The PPN is also helpful in addressing continued stigma around epilepsy.

Providers will fill out an information form to get started, then complete one of the Behavioral Health Provider Courses listed below in our Learning Portal:

  1. Epilepsy Basics & Social Determinants of Health for Behavioral Health Providers
  2. An Overview of Nonepileptic Seizures
  3. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in Epilepsy
  4. The Intersection of Epilepsy and Psychiatric Disorders
  5. Medical Therapy in Epilepsy: Treatments, Side Effects, Drug Interactions Social Determinants of Health in Epilepsy

We look forward to working with you.
